I just got home from a lovely lunch at the home of my friend, Dick and his mother, Ellie.
Ellie is 98 and 3/4 years old. I've only met her once before so I wasn't sure how today would go. But it was all good once I mentioned The Twins.
Ellie can't see so good but Ellie can listen to baseball better than the best of fans I've ever met before. Heck, Ellie even stayed up last night to listen to the game, something our little friend akkelly didn't even do! A cold? Oh AKK! Ellie's got all sorts of medical issues and she stayed up late last night. Of course, Ellie didn't have to get up early this morning to tackle any children before getting everyone in the car. But that's neither here no there. Even I watched the game! Feel better soon!
I brought Lasagne with Turkey Sausage and the Pumpkin Marble Cheesecake. Along with my Signature Salad that I made up myself: Organic Greens, Slices of Red Pear, Prosciutto, Gruyere Cheese with some Olive Oil and Vinegar on top of it. I think it was a hit with both Dick and Ellie. Ellie loved the cheesecake. I plan on bringing her some of the Chocolate Truffle Cheesecake with the Raspberry Sauce real soon.
I love Dick & Ellie's neighborhood. Lots of houses with personality. Trees everywhere. All turning for the fall show. A creek. Lots of water - creeks & rivers & lakes - oh my! I took the pretty drive home through the winding streets instead of hopping onto the insane freeway. Can't wait to do it again!
There's something about this time of year that brings out the Tea Lover in me. And tea makes me quiet. I'll sit and contemplate things or more typically, think about nothing at all.
I can't decide if I'm going back to the silversmithing class or not. I don't like it. It's too technical for me. I won't be doing it any more than at the class. I'm not even thrilled with what I'm making. The teacher is a bit more on the artsy side than the organization side so that we didn't know that we could have brought a stone of our own choice to set in silver. So I was limited to the cabochons they had on hand. The choice was very narrow which is ridiculous seeing as how the class was in a bead store and it's not like they didn't know it was coming up. I'd have paid a good price for a nice stone. Alas, I am such with some $4 agate that I hardly find appealing at all.
I think I just talked myself out of going back to class. We'll see. It would be a beautiful drive to the suffering of class could be worth it. Or maybe Thor and I should just hit the road for the pretty leaves. I'll talk to him before I make up my mind.
