Sorry Melanie. I had to take a sleep break. Maybe I'll write lots more today.
Hey Connie! I believe we were separated at birth. Mom always liked you best. It's your turn to watch her!
I drive the kids to school every morning so we can all get an extra half hour of sleep. On the way there we pass this teeny tiny run-down house. The yard is always covered with political propaganda. On 9-11 this year there was a huge 3-D model of the Twin Towers with some sign supporting the war in Iraq. During this election year, the yard was covered with politician's signs. It was also covered with handmade signs for the same politics. At first I thought the signs were made by children, perhaps older elementary school children. But upon daily pass-by scrutinization I came to the conclusion that they were too detailed for small children. I figured that perhaps they were the work of some very empowered high school kids who weren't afraid of looking dumb while making tacky signs.
And then this morning I saw the Mailman get into his truck to head off to work.
Mystery solved.
I'm just not surprised that it's a mailman. Silly mailmen. They crack me up. And scare me at the same time.
I also drive by a city-tended cemetery every day. One side of it has urns that are full of fake flowers. Easily detectable ona winter's day. Yesterday while driving past it after having picked up Thing 1 from detention, yet again, I pointed to them and said "Dude. I think I'm changing my mind about not being buried. I think it would be awesome to be buried there and have you guys show up with fake flowers and all sorts of kitschy crap to hang off my urn."
The kid side-glanced me and said "whatever mom". Still side-glancing me as though I was wearing a postal uniform.
Speaking of the Detainee. He somehow managed to turn that F into a C+. He was a little excited and used way too many naughty words when expressing the news to me. Words I should have washed his mouth of for but you know, sometimes you have to ignore the words and just focus on the message.
Time to go and get ready for Food For Folks. It's going to be a day of tolerance because I'm going to have to pick up the food at a church that's a polling place. Which means that not only will I have to swerve around the seniors in the parking lot but they'll expect me to hold the church doors for them while I'm also holding two heavy bags of food.
Can't you just feel the love?

In fact, you're so strongly Democrat, a political career (or at least some activism )may be in your future. |
