I set up Fort Snickerdoodle to work as the Bubble Therapy Room (hallway). With the saline bag tied, with red ricrac from Thing 2's pull-up bar in his doorway. Set up a nice blanket for the kitty to sit on.
Thing 1 came upstairs to help me and was followed by Oreo (the patient) who thought she'd died already and gone to heaven, what with this comfy looking place and two of her favorite people there to talk nice and pet pet pet pet her.
I think I might have missed a few steps, got some saline leaking out before I even got the needle in. Heck, before the cat was even sitting on the bed. I'll learn.
The dang cat couldn't have been more cooperative. She was purring and the hard part was keeping her from rolling around like kitties do when they're getting petted just right. I was afraid the needle would go into the wrong spot and hurt her.
I got the needle in fast and she only fussed for a second. Then she tried to move around to be petted so it was up to Thing 1 to keep her still.
The patient survived. The doctor survived. The assistant survived. But I don't think I held the insertion spot long enough after taking out the needle because kitty was leaking for awhile afterwards.
I really hope this is all she needs for a long, somewhat healthy life. Purring furry little beastie.
Have a good Thanksgiving. If you're travelling, stay safe.
Send some stink-free thoughts our way, will ya?
