Thor and I made an attempt last night to eat at the local hamburger joint that's in the same strip mall as the frame shop and will also be leaving in less than 90 days. Apparently everyone else wanted one last meal there because the place was packed.

We decided to make an attempt on another day and headed farther west to another hamburger joint that isn't about to be demolished.

But we called the first place on our way home to pick up a couple of orders of chicken wings for Thing 1. When we got there to pick them up, they hadn't even been fried up yet, due to the insane run of customers, so we killed a half hour by running across the street to Marshall's where I picked up a couple of basic short sleeved polo shirts for the summer.

Unfortunately, I didn't try them until this morning on and they are basically sausage casings (not there fault) so I have to decide if I should return them or keep them for motivation. You know, like everything else that's already in my closet except for about a dozen t-shirts and some pants that actually fit.

I should make myself wear them in public to serve as a reminder to back away from the food. But that's not nice to do to the public.

Good news! An Orkin Pest Control truck backed into the next door neighbor's driveway the other day! And I've seen the neighbor's truck piled high with garbage bags from the overflowing garage so I assume he's either legally taking them to a dump or he's illegally hauling them to a construction site where he's dumping them. Either way, the garbage is going.

However, the For Sale sign is partially removed. Just the post remains this morning. So that means either they're getting a new Realtor (because their daughter who was the last Realtor couldn't sell a house full of bags of garbage) or they've changed their minds. And it's okay with me if they've changed their minds because since everyone of their children has moved away (including the one who tried to set their house on fire three times) they're pretty quiet neighbors.

In other neighorhood news, it's Citywide Clean-Up Days. The best time of the year! Everyone gets to put everything they no longer want (within parameters, of course) to the curb and other people drive up and down the streets, picking out stuff they want. And then on your assigned Saturday, garbage trucks come by and crush the stuff that nobody else wanted.

This year we've got a peach couch and a couple of teal wing-backed chairs with matching ottoman (goodbye Eighties!), a pair of very old crutches, a twin bed, some old brass curtain rods that came with the house, a whole bunch of construction material (that is not within parameters but people will take it and we'll just bring back the stuff that the trucks won't crush) and a few broken down laundry baskets that duct tape can no longer hold together.

It's just the best idea, ever!

Unless you're married to a crazy pack rat. No. I don't mean Thor. Although he is a bit of a pack rat. I'm talking about someone I know who's already gone out and picked up two treadmills, three snowblowers, a few t.v. sets, etc. None of which work or if they work, not for long. This guy has filled their garage so full that no cars fit. He assumes he's going to sell them in a garage sale this summer. I assume he's going to just keep them stored in his garage, unsold, until next year's pick up. His significant other is going to Pinch His Head. For Real!

It's a quiet day here in the Land O'Logic. Thor's gone to some Tool Show. Oh man, that's a great name for a gathering of men, isn't it? Thing 2 is at his cousin's. Thing 1 is always quiet. I plan to sit outside and read and read and read.
