I'm trying very hard to write an entry without writing about the weather. It ain't easy for a gal who's got weather first and foremost on her mind. I mean, really, I've been running around in nothing but a jean jacket and pashmina around my neck (it's a soft scarf Art!) Well, and a shirt and some pants and underwear and socks and shoes. Man, do I have to explain everything to you people?
And now, I have to bypass the cute leather jacket and go right to the microfibered winter jacket with the fur-trimmed dork-making hood.
What the heck happened to just below freezing?
See? It's impossible to not talk about the weather and I'm not even suffering near as much as mahvalicious is!
I almost never wear that stupid dork-making jacket. It makes me feel so damn frumpy and heavy Norwegian accented.
However, it won't make me look as dumb as the teenage girl I saw running to high school this morning. Cute little shoes, no socks, capris, a teeny tiny fitted broadcloth jacket, and a look of "I think I might die" on her face. Hat? No. Mittens or gloves? No. I'd rather be alive and frumpy than wearing something cute while dying from exposure on the sidewalk.
It's a good thing I have alot of cleaning and paperwork to do in the house this weekend. Maybe if I threaten to take myself outside for five minutes for every wasted hour, I'll really really really accomplish something.
Does spending time redefining "accomplished stuff" count as accomplishing something?
News from the parenting front: I went to a college financial aid meeting at the high school last night. Looks like we're going to have to do some fancy scholarship applying. We'll be spending time looking for obscure scholarships. Like writing an essay to Trojan Condoms about how their product saves lives. Hey - 50 bucks can cover the first chapter of a college textbook! Get a whole bunch of 50 dollar scholarships and you've got yourself an entire textbook!
It was nice to see that we weren't the only parents who didn't get around to saving much toward their children's college futures. Heck, both Thor and I went to college without parental funds. Our kids will be just fine. At least I'm willing to help them find obscure scholarships to apply for. I bet SPAM offers one.
