I'm not sure but I think I may be on my way to becoming a vegetarian. I don't want to be a vegetarian! I love meat!
Just not like I used to.
I made steak for the family this week and it just really made me feel kind of nauseous.
Maybe because it was one of those boxes of cheap steak marinated in mystery juices than frozen for your grocery store convenience. I don't know. I've always liked them just fine before.
But this time the smell of them kind of made me go ick inside.
Last night I spent HOURS throwing together some Chicken Gumbo. Chopping onions and celery and green peppers and red peppers and garlic. Chopping chopping chopping. Don't know why I bought that Pampered Chef chopper. I used to use it all the time but now it feels like such a burden to take it out and remove the rubber cover from it. What the hell?
Anyway, while I was chopping away I had spice-rubbed chicken baking away in the oven.
I sauteed the vegetables, poured in some tomato stuff then added the chicken. Oh my god. As I'm writing this my stomach is starting to get upset. Anyway, I cooked the gumbo like the recipe said. Made a batch of white rice to put the finished product on top of. When it was ready I dished myself a bowl of rice and gumbo and sat down to eat.
I could not eat the frickin' chicken. It made me gag. Seriously, is this a menopausal thing? Will I hate meat and then once the hormones have settled, love it again?
Don't get me wrong, I don't think I'll ever get over the love of a good burger or a hot dog. Maybe I need to stick to the ground meats for awhile. Really. What the hell!
Side Note: Mastercook 9's Chicken Gumbo Recipe? Hello?! It's Betty Crocker gone cyber. But Betty Crocker is in Minnesota and Minnesota is the home of the bland, white food. Not the home of Gumbo Recipes. I get more spices in a can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup. I'll be sticking to the white food recipes in my Mastercook from now on.
Hair Note: I'll be fixing it the Mom-Approved way today. Spending a half hour on it with a curling iron. I'll get a photo to you later.
Carrie Note: You must be mistaking me with some other blogger who has energy. Me? I'm the blogger that works at a part-time job 3 hours a week and spends most of her afternoons with the kitty on her lap so that the kitty can rest comfortably before her next Bubble Therapy. I'm an Energetic Mass approximately 20% of my day. The rest of the day is spent looking for places to lay down.
Today I plan to spend some time making one type of Christmas cookie and looking for non-meat recipes.
Jewelry Note: I just added more Jewelry! More Earrings! More Bracelets! More Necklaces! In case any of you are interested.
