Hey! Look what I can do! I can sit and wait for the phone call from the freight company regarding the treadmill they said they didn't have but in reality, really did have but needed a truck with a gate so they could deliver it to me. It was just easier for them to tell me that they didn't have it. You know, seeing as how the guy from dispatch figured he was working with a stupid woman or something.
It was like magic how one day they had it, the next day they didn't have it and when the treadmill company got involved, well lookee there! There's the treadmill, right there in the freight building!
Frickin' Frackin' I hope they call soon. I'd like to go do something. Don't know what. But something.
Speaking of Frickin' Frackin', there's this little strip mall in the area that has an African grocery store in it. There was a sign out front that someone had messed with so that instead of "AFRICAN MARKET" it read "A FRICAN MARKET". Damn, that cracked me up.
I know. Get a life.
I had a life this weekend! Outings with Sandy. Yesterday was gorgeous. 70 something degrees in March in Minnesota. Wow! Hello Al Gore? You're too late!
I convinced one of the boys to actually be seen in public with me yesterday. All it took was a bribe to spend some of their dad's bonus on new clothing, even shoes if they wanted them, and Thing 1 was hooked.
We ran to Southdale to look for t-shirts. Only found a sweatshirt. We then headed to the Maul of America for some band t-shirts at Hot Topics. Gads, I love that store. All Goth and Emo and kids too cool for Goth and Emo. And then me. Goth, Emo, Too Cool for Both, and the Frump from Minnesota Who Could Really Use a Treadmill About Now.
Still. Nothing. No phone ringing.
After we shopped I took him out for lunch to the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Neither one of us had been there before but Thing 1 loves shrimp and I figured I'd be able to talk him into actually sitting down at a restaurant, under public scrutiny, if there were shrimp involved.
Really. My kids almost die from the embarrassment that Thor and I are.
What if people saw us together? Oh my God! People would judge!
Anyway, the food was pretty good. Damn expensive but pretty good. And now I never have to go there again. Got that off of my life's list of things to do. And yes, my life doesn't get much more exciting than that. I've already done so many things in the first half of my life that I plan to spend the second half of my life recuperating.
God, that sounds thrilling, doesn't it? And I mean that in a sarcastic way. For those of you who don't understand the dry humor that I reek of.
Thing 1 and I had an interesting lunchtime conversation. Where I threw out ideas for places to attend college and he threw them back at me. Mostly I just heard alot of "I want to move out of this Country. It's so boring here". Because you know, seeing as how Minnesota is the mecca of all that is exciting in America, I can see why he thinks he needs to flee the country in order to get a little pizzazz in his life.
If he needs to leave, we're going to sway him in the direction of Norway. We loved Norway when we were there. And the fact that I've got family over there who are incredibly forthcoming. We really want to go back for a visit and take the kids. Maybe leave one of them behind on the family farm.
Thor was suggesting we see if we could live on the family farm seeing as how no one was living there when we visited. And it's a really cool place.
If you like living on a mountain in the middle of winter where the sun is up for about an hour or so.
"ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY" "ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY" "ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY" "ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY" "ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY" "ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY" "ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY" "ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY"
Sorry. Just had myself a Shining moment there. Thor behind a typewriter in mid-January on a very dark farm in the middle of nobody in Norway.
