So Christmas is over and now it's time to detox out all the cream cheese-based food and all the sour cream-based food and all the butter-based food. My poor body wants salads and fruits and vegetables and non-gravied meats.
Too bad my head still wants the poison because I've got homemade caramels in my Christmas stocking!
I'm typing to you from my new Dell computer. Can you see the difference?
The boys are jealous and think that this uber-nice computer is a waste on a gal like me what with all the new doohickeys and whatsits that I won't figure out are there for at least another 4 years or more.
Oh well. Not my problem. I've got me a new computer! A real one! Not from a dumpster!
My favorite Christmas present was not one that I received. It's not one that I bought either.
On Christmas Eve after the family shindig was over and everyone was off to do their own thing, Thor announced to me that I was not to go to our bedroom for a couple of hours.
I could hear him up there moving around and dropping things. I started to think that maybe he'd made us a headboard for our bed! We don't have one and we have a bed that moves on it's own and has to be pushed back against the wall frequently. You can't sit up in bed to read without having to get out every few minutes to shove the bed back to the wall. So I just thought that maybe that's what he was doing.
When I was finally allowed back into the bedroom I was sad to see that there was no headboard. I figured maybe he'd made sure it fit and then moved it to surprise me on Christmas morning.
When I got up on Christmas there was a strange package wrapped and sitting in the hallway. It didn't look big enough to be a headboard. It looked big enough to be two basketballs in a box so I figured the headboard was out. I didn't look at the tag on it. I just assumed it was for me.
When we got to the end of present unwrapping, one of the kids got the box and took it over to Thor. The tag said "To (Thor)" "From Santa".
hmmmm...what the heck?
He laughed as he opened it and pulled out one of those fleece blankets that you tie together.
"One side has robots! And the other side has cowboys!"
Thor made himself a blanket.
My God, we laughed. He'd mentioned wanting one to me months ago and it totally flew out of my head. He was at the fabric store last week, picking up canvas to put on the back of the appliance garage doors for the new kitchen cabinets he'd made so found the fabrics then.
Totally funny.
Robots and cowboys.
What a dork! Sure do love him!
