Oh well. I thought silversmithing would be the thing for me. Alas, it is not. Unless I want to invest a whole lot more on a different kind of gas tank plus torch head and hose and lots and lots and lots of silver. And then, I'll need lots more tools to work it. I can go to a local studio and rent a spot by the hour that has most of that stuff but really, do I want to add that to the things I've signed up for but am not getting around to doing?
I don't think so. I think I'll finish the next two classes and then get back to making the glass beads.
I whine and whine about more investment but of course, there I was after class yesterday picking out assorted rods of glass for melting. And then when I got home I reserved a couple of books for fusing glass.
The madness just never ends.
One woman in class was in my beadmaking class a year ago. That was fun. It was like having a friend in class. But not. It was just like having a friendly person in class. That's what it was. Although, most people who take these types of classes seem to be pretty open to the friendly.
If I think I'm in way over my head in the technicalities of this class, and I've had a silversmithing class before, imagine the poor woman to the left of me who really isn't into making jewelry at all. She signed up thinking she could bezel-set a bunch of sea glass that she found on a beach and make a bracelet out of it. She looked like she wanted to cry after she found out the amount of work it would take to complete such a task. Here's hoping she's got more gumption than me because I already gave up for her.
After class I headed on down to my seestor's cabin and hung out with her and my nieces. Love my nieces to pieces! They headed back up to the cities and my seestor and I headed down to an outlet mall. Bought ourselves 6 matching sweaters (3 for each of us) in 3 different colors each so nobody would think we were copycats. I scored the pumpkin colored one. At first I wrote "the pumpkin one" but added "colored" when I realized you people would think I'd bought myself a sweater with a pumpkin applique on it because, afterall, I do live in the part of the midwest where no one bats an eyelash when someone wears an appliqued bear on their sweatshirt into a fancy restaurant (and by "fancy" I mean "Old Country Buffet")
The outlet mall just so happened to have a Harry & David store where I KNEW it was Pumpkin Caramel Ball season. Got myself a bag of those plus a bag of flavored espresso beans for Thing 1. Guess what else I found?!
Guess?
Okay, you'd never guess this one so I'll tell you:
Pumpkin Martini Mix.
I am not kidding you! All I have to do is shake some of it over ice with some Vodka and Skol! I didn't try it last night. I was too tired to get liquored up. Imagine that.
Scored myself a Pumpkin cookbook too. The pumpkin madness, it just never ends.
Special shout out to my high school buddy John! Glad you found me! It's nice to be in touch again. We'll have to keep in contact before next year's reunion. Explain to the people (and to me) why you think I used to be like Lindsey Lohan. Was it the booze? Heh. I don't think I drank that much in high school. Then again, if I did, I couldn't remember, now, could I?
John found his way here when I put his full name in the old Coffee Grind blog and he googled himself. Isn't that funny? Of course, it made me nervous so I deleted that entry. I get like that.
I'll have to throw out more names and see who stops by for a visit!
Lonnie Keene, Kellyjean Arzelle Swanson, Kelly Jean Sawvel.
Howdy! Leave a comment if you stop by!
