After letting the kitties up from the basment this morning I walked downstairs to see if my little Mouser had been at it again.
In the half-lit studio I saw what I assumed was another little mouse body. When I turned on the light I could see that I was right.
Good little Scooter. She did it again.
Frickin Frackin mice. I don't know how they're getting in and I don't know how many more there will be.
I'm assuming it's got something to do with the neighbors to the south of us and their garbage that hasn't been taken away since some time around Thanksgiving. They've got a truck parked directly next to our fence, that is within about 8 feet of our house that's full of garbage bags. (Their truck, not our house!)
You know what?
I'll be right back. You people need to see this.
Okay. I take it back. It's not as close to our fence and house as I thought it was. Sometimes you just need to see a picture of it.
Anyway. That truck has been sitting there with those bags in the back of it for awhile now. Weeks. The yellow and green garbage can in front of it? Has been there since before Christmas!
They've been mostly keeping the big garage door closed but the one time I was able to look in, when on a walk down the street, it was half full of black plastic bags of garbage.
Makes me wonder what the Orkin Pest Control guy had to say when he dropped by last week.
So, I'm not sure if their trash is bringing in more rodents to the neighborhood or we've just got mice all on our own. It wouldn't be the first time.
But I'm thrilled to the core that I've got myself a working kitty because lord knows, Yoda would never be bothered to catch one.
Scooter was so proud of her catch. And so happy for her canned Fancy Fiest reward. She was on a high for a long time this morning. Had to be in my face wherever I was and whatever I was up to.
I cleaned out the lazy susan, looking for mouse droppings (none) and Scooter had to climb in to see what that was all about. I cleaned out from under the kitchen cupboard (no droppings), and under a bathroom sink (no droppings). And she was right there to supervise.
When I came down here to sit in front of the computer for a bit, she was right in my face and finally went over about a foot, to crash.
She is so pooped that I could flash away with the camera and she wouldn't wake up.
Time to go look for droppings elsewhere, while my Rodent Assistant takes a break.
p.s. to anyone interested (the rest of you look away) - there's New Jewelry!
