Mothers are a tough subject, aren't they?
If we have horrible ones, we hope to be different. If we have great ones, we fear we'll be horrible moms to our children.
Here's the thing. As long as we're aware of the horrors of our mothers and make an effort to listen to the words that come out of our own mouths, we should be okay. If we have great ones, same thing, just listen to the words that come out of your mouths. And the tone that you use to deliver them.
And for god's sake, have some empathy. If you can put yourself in the place of your children, just once in awhile, you're ahead of the game.
I'd rave on more but remember, I'm all about the forgiveness. The more I journey down that road, the more taut my string of forgiveness gets.
Speaking of mom, I'm mom-free at Food For Folks today. My seestor is having surgery on her shoulder and mom has been picked up and dropped off in the waiting room. My seestor likes to have mom around for stuff like that and her husband seems keen on the idea. When I have surgery, we try to not let out the time or location.
My seestor is much better with the forgiveness than I am. Probably because we were raised by two different moms. I have Sybil and she had Cybil. Same mom, two different personalities. Four different personalities really. Depends on the kid she was working on.

Time to apply the make-up so the Food For Folks who can still see won't be askeered.
