I wore myself out this weekend. Wore myself out into an exhausted state of mind by suppertime last night. I was getting darned weepy, I was so tired.
Saturday was not so exhausting. It was mostly Sunday.
Saturday I called my friends Buzz and Sting and told them they needed to take me out for a walk along the creek. So they did. It was a gorgeous day out. I got a couple of pictures of the trees that the beaver have been gnawing on. Photos are on the computer downstairs and I'm on the computer upstairs. I don't have the technology to transfer them upstairs nor do I have the energy to hoist myself downstairs. Therefore, no pictures.
But believe me, those beaver have been doing some heavy tree damage along the creek.
When we walked out to a point to see if we could find out where they'd been hauling the trees to, something jumped out of the bushes and went running.
I only saw the movement but didn't see the animal. Buzz swears that it was a lynx or a bobcat. Wouldn't surprise me. We've had cougars in this area before. We had to have a cougar shot by a police officer a couple years back. The police officer just happens to be Sting's brother. It's a small animal kingdom over here. I tell you.
After the walk I followed Sting home so that I could see the Annual Stinger Christmas Tree.
It's quite a sight. Every year they cut down a tree from a tree farm that's just a tad too big for their house. Or for just about any house, really. But it's become a tradition of theirs to cut down a big sucker, cut off some from the bottom and some from the top and then shove it into their house, thereby blocking the entrance in the hallway and rerouting the traffic through the kitchen.
I love the Stingers and their Christmas whackiness.
Buzz and her daughter came over later on in the evening so I could see again, what a successful Weight Watchers story looks like. That daughter of hers is just dang gorgeous. Buzz isn't so bad herself, with her own Weight Watchers success story.
Hate em.
On Sunday morning I was up at 8:30 when the phone rang. It was a call from my little brother, letting us know that Best Buy would be having wii's at all of their stores.
Thing 1 wants to buy one so I woke him and Thor up. They headed in one direction while I headed in another. Unfortunately we'd missed the cut-off and didn't get one this time.
There's always next Sunday. And the Sunday after that. And the Sunday after that.
Damn, this kid better get one soon.
We headed down to a tree farm to cut down our Christmas tree. The kids didn't want to go and whined before we left, during the drive, while we were at the tree farm, and on the way home. Probably didn't help that I went down the wrong highway causing us to have to drive at least an extra half hour to the place. But we got to take new back roads so that was fun for me and Thor.
Damn kids. Never want to go anywhere with us. Unless we're taking them to Best Buy or Blockbuster or Taco Bell or Burger King.
It took us awhile to pick out our tree. I don't know why that is. Everyone's wandering all over the tree farm looking for the most perfect tree when really, they're all pretty dang good and all you have to do is turn the bad side to the wall.
We took more back roads on the way home. We came across something interesting that I had to turn around so I could see it again (the boys loved that!) It was some huge Cambodian center of some sort. I took pictures for you. They're downstairs. Maybe another day.
When we got home I had to start packaging up all the rubber stamps I'd sold on eBay. Holy heck, did I sell alot of stamps! And then we set up the tree and I started putting the lights in. Oh so perfectly placed. It took me forever. I hate it when you get a bunch of strands up and the one in the middle goes out. I was thankful that only happened one time. But by the time I was done, I was swearing and sweating.
No one was interested in hanging up ornaments so I dragged them out of storage and hung them myself. I'm living in a world of grinches. But I won't let them get me down. We're going to have a happy Christmas, if I have to force it down their throats!
